On Sunday, July 28th, 2024, Rancho Valencia Resort and Spa in coordination with Baja Wine + Food invites you to an extraordinary culinary celebration—Paellas & Grills with Javier Plascencia and Family. From 4 PM to 8 PM, the Croquet Lawn will transform into a vibrant and delectable festival, honoring the essence of Valle de Guadalupe with a blend of gourmet cuisine, fine wines, and world-class entertainment.

Paellas & Grills: A Culinary Extravaganza

The Paellas & Grills event promises a feast for the senses, featuring the exceptional talents of chef Javier Plascencia, the internationally acclaimed chef from restaurant family Grupo Plascencia. Known for his culinary masterpieces at Animalón, Finca Altozano, Jazamango, Erizo, Semillón, Lupe, and Caffé Saverios, chef Plascencia brings his passion for Baja flavors to Rancho Valencia. Joining him is chef Oscar Torres, Executive Chef of Grupo Plascencia and the culinary talent behind the Michelin-starred Animalón.

The afternoon will be a culinary journey, with open fire grills, smokers, and paellas sizzling under the San Diego sun. The original Caesar salad station, a raw seafood bar with local sustainable catches, and crafted cocktails will add to the gastronomic mix. Tequila and mezcal tasting experiences will offer a taste of Mexico’s finest spirits, while a libations bar, manned by Mixologist Valeria Plascencia, will serve innovative cocktails to complement the feast.

A Wine Lover’s Paradise

Wine enthusiasts will be thrilled by the curated selection of premium Baja wines at Paellas & Grills. Sommelier Lauren Plascencia–Wine Director of Grupo Plascencia and recipient of the Michelin Guide’s Sommelier Award 2024–will guide guests through a tasting experience featuring the best of Baja’s vineyards. Special guests Kristin Magnussen of Lechuza Wines and Veronica Santiago of Mina Penélope Vineyards will also be present, sharing their exquisite vintages.

No festival is complete without music, and the event will feature the sounds of Nortec: Bostich + Fussible. Their signature blend of electronic beats and traditional Mexican music will create an energetic and festive atmosphere. Dance, laugh, and celebrate with friends old and new as the sun sets over the beautiful Rancho Valencia grounds.
